TAP-NYxOC Screening and Discussion on 13th and Racial Inequality [Virtual]

June 13, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

TAP-NY and TAP-Orange County (OC) are teaming up to host our next virtual screening, which will be of Ava DuVernay’s documentary, 13th.

13th explores how the Thirteenth Amendment (the documentary’s namesake) led to mass incarceration in the United States and features analysis by scholars, activists, and politicians. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 89th Academy Awards, and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, among numerous other accolades.

We will host this screening using either Google Meet or Zoom with a discussion afterwards to share thoughts from the screening and ways we can support and advance race issues as individuals and as a community – we believe that ongoing education and an understanding of history is a crucial piece of this.

*We will share the virtual link with registrants prior to the event.
